Direct Response Copywriting

Before filling you in on my "how" for Direct Response Copywriting, it's only fair to let you know where I learned how to do it.

A lot of the credit goes to American Writers and Artists Inc. (AWAI). They provide industry leading training in copywriting - including courses for a number of niches.

After completing their basic and master's level courses, I worked for AWAI helping novice copywriters improve and complete their assignments. I also continued my training by completing the Fundraising, SEO, B2B and Christian niche courses.

For all of 2008 and 2009, I've worked directly with Bob Bly. Together we've completed and published three books:

  • Writing E-Books for Fun and Profit
  • The Instant Amazon Bestseller Formula, and
  • Build Your Copywriting Website

We're currently working on two more books. One that will be a definitive resource for List Building, and the other is for people over 50 who want to get started in Information Marketing.

Working with Bob has improved my writing significantly. Being able to read and study all his materials - and especially having him edit and improve my writing - has been the best educational opportunity I could ever have asked for.

I came into copywriting with 21 years of running my own business and creating all my own advertising copy. It was amusing - and a great confidence builder - to discover my ads were using direct response marketing techniques without me really knowing what they were.

Since going full-time in copywriting, editorial copywriting (creating info products) has become my focus. As you can imagine, clients who ask me to create an info product generally ask me to continue and produce the promotional materials and advertising copy that sell that info product.

(One noteable exception is my first assignment with Early To Rise. They asked me to create the advertising copy for a product that didn't exist yet. That was challenging. It also led to my being able to help with creating the info product.)
